CIEH Stress Awareness

Who is this course for?
This course is relevant to all employees, employers and managers in particular at all levels and in all organisations to encourage a healthy working climate.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements, although all experience gained at a variety of workplace levels and within varied occupational settings is relevant to the course and useful to each candidate to gain a greater understanding of Stress in the Workplace.

What will I study?

Topics covered include:

  • Defining Stress and how it affects us
  • Stress and the law, understanding the legal responsibilities.
  • HSE Management Standards – how to ensure compliance.
  • Identifying the causes of stress at work (and outside work)
  • The implications of stress for the employee and for the organisation.
  • Identifying stress in the team and noticing signs of increased vulnerability
  • How to be pro-active in reducing stress
  • The managers role in the risk assessment process
  • Identifying management style and behaviours that influence stress
  • Creating a healthy climate

How will I be assessed?
The course duration is 6 hours in total. The programme is designed to be delivered with a minimum of 4 hours group work plus assessment. The assessment is by means of a review of the delegates own work practices and is designed to be completed with tutor liaison and guidance following the training. All delegates will receive a nationally and internationally recognised certificate.
